Question: Is the statement “Jesus, pray for us” correct? It’s like saying: God, pray for us...that is strange.
God’s answer:
“in My name” only. You say it as it is.
Meaning: The expression cut and dried means: "having a clear and definite quality that does not allow doubt or that cannot be changed; being or done according to a plan, set procedure, or formula."1 When we take the phrase ”in Jesus Christ’s name” and revise it to “Jesus, pray for us” or “through Jesus Christ”, we change its meaning.
Question: Why don’t we ask “in the name of the Holy Spirit” or say “in the name of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit”?
God’s answer:
It is superfluous
Meaning: Superfluous means:” unnecessary, especially through being more than enough.”2 It is superfluous because The Holy Spirit is the Father. This will be discussed in Chapter 22.
